Lucas Digne to leave Barcelona? Blaugrana to transfer list defender in summer

According to sources in the Spanish media, Barcelona will let French defender Lucas Digne go this summer and bring in another backup at left back to Jordi Alba. Digne, an extremely capable player in his own right, hasn’t been able to dislodge Alba, and it’s probably a case of “too good to be a backup player, but not good enough to displace Alba” for the French international, who moved to the Nou Camp in the summer of 2016 after stints with Lille and PSG in his native France and a period on loan with AS Roma

The 24 year old, contracted to Barca till 2021, has made only two league starts this season for the Catalan giants, and has netted only one goal in 2017/18 so far – against Olympiakos in Europe. He was Barcelona’s starting left back when they lost the first leg of their Copa quarterfinal 1-0 to Espanyol, but was not chosen in the XI in the return leg at the Nou Camp as the Catalans overturned the deficit to win 2-1 on aggregate.
